Tinubu Vows Rescue of Abducted Oyo Students and Teachers Calls for State Police

Bola Tinubu has assured residents of Oyo State that the Federal Government is working closely with security agencies and the state government to secure the release of pupils, students and teachers abducted by gunmen in Esiele community, Oriire Local Government Area.

The President also condemned the ing of one of the kidnapped teachers, describing the act as barbaric and unacceptable. In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed sadness over the incident and sympathised with the affected families.

Bandits reportedly invaded the Esiele community last Friday and abducted staff and students from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L A Primary School, creating panic across the area.

Tinubu commended Seyi Makinde for the steps already taken to address the situation and assured the people of Oyo State that every effort is being made to rescue the victims still in captivity.

According to the President, the Federal Government is collaborating with the Oyo State Government and security agencies to intensify rescue operations and ensure the abductees are returned safely.

The President also praised the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioners of Police in Oyo and Kwara states for their rapid intervention and deployment of tactical and Intelligence Response Team operatives to track down the kidnappers.

Tinubu disclosed that the Inspector General of Police is personally leading a technology driven operation aimed at rescuing the victims and bringing all those involved in the to justice. He expressed confidence that security agencies would soon achieve a breakthrough in the operation.

The President further stated that the latest abduction highlights the urgent need for the elishment of state police across Nigeria to strengthen security in underserved communities and improve rapid response to criminal activities.

He urged the National Assembly to accelerate the passage of laws that would allow the creation of state police systems nationwide.

Security operatives have continued search and rescue operations as efforts intensify to secure the safe return of the remaining abducted victims.
