Chief Adebutu, the first Nigerian awarded four National Honours, has inspired generations with his life story and principles of success. Born to Muslim parents, he voluntarily became a Christian and rose to the highest honour in the odist Church of Nigeria, becoming a Knight of John Wesley. Beyond faith, Chief Adebutu is one of Nigeria’s wealthiest businessmen, known for living quietly while giving generously to society.

On October 24, 2025, he marked his 90th birthday by launching his autobiography, Legacy in Motion: The Quiet Power of a Nigerian Icon. The book offers lessons for young Nigerians and global readers, emphasizing diligence, integrity, continuous learning, and giving. Chief Adebutu advises aspiring entrepreneurs to rise early, honour small tasks, guard their integrity, and let success be a ladder for others.

The book also highlights hope as a central theme, illustrated by his personal lottery win in Boston in 1973, which allowed him to return permanently to Nigeria and shape his future. Chief stresses that wealth must empower and serve society, warning against cutting corners and unethical practices in business. He underscores the importance of discipline, mentorship, and using one’s wealth to impact lives positively.

Chief Adebutu’s story is a guide for young people seeking success across any field, reminding them that true wealth lies not in vaults, but in values, service, and the ability to inspire and uplift others.
