President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recorded a sweeping victory in the All Progressives Congress presidential primaries for the 2027 general election, defeating his lone challenger, Stanley Osifo, in a nationwide exercise described by party leaders as a strong endorsement of his administration.

The primary election took place across the country’s 8,809 wards, with millions of party members reportedly participating in the process. Early collated figures showed Tinubu securing more than 8.2 million votes, while Osifo recorded only a few votes in selected states including Abia, Bayelsa, and Edo.

Speaking after casting his vote alongside First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at Ikoyi Obalende Ward in Lagos, Tinubu described the exercise as a demonstration of internal democracy within the ruling party.

The President praised APC governors and party officials for ensuring a peaceful and transparent process from the ward level to the accreditation of delegates and members.

National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, also commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, saying it reflected the unity and strength of the ruling party ahead of the 2027 election.

Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, said the massive turnout showed that Nigerians still believed in Tinubu’s leadership despite current economic challenges.

Across several states, governors and party leaders openly mobilized support for the President. In Borno State, Governor Babagana Zulum announced that all accredited voters in his ward voted for Tinubu. Similar results were recorded in Kebbi, Osun, Kaduna, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states where the President secured overwhelming support.

In Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori declared that Tinubu received all 407,646 votes cast in the state primary, while Osifo recorded zero votes.

Party stakeholders described the exercise as evidence of APC’s grassroots strength, unity, and readiness for the 2027 general election campaign.
