He served as Secretary to the State Government in old Oyo State, Deputy Governor during the Second Republic and Governor of Osun State between 1999 and 2003.
Tinubu also highlighted Akande’s role as interim national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, noting that his leadership helped lay the foundation for the party’s historic victory in 2015, when it unseated an incumbent federal government.
