Tinubu Calls for Greater Investment in Technical Education to Empower Nigerian Youths

Bola Tinubu has stressed the importance of investing in Technical and Vocational Education and Training as a key solution for Nigeria’s economic growth and youth empowerment.

Speaking at the combined convocation and 70th anniversary celebration of Kaduna Polytechnic in Kaduna on Saturday, the president said practical ss and entrepreneurship are now more valuable in today’s fast cing global economy than relying solely on academic certificates.

Represented by the Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Ahmad, Tinubu encouraged graduates to embrace innovation, creativity, and self reliance to remain competitive and productive.

The event celebrated 60,803 graduates from the 2015 2016 to 2024 2025 academic sessions. Tinubu reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to strengthening educational institutions and creating opportunities for Nigerian youths through various empowerment initiatives.

He highlighted programmes such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the Students Venture Initiative as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and supporting students financially.

The president also urged the management of Kaduna Polytechnic to take advantage of digital technology to improve learning standards and boost global competitiveness.

In his address, Uba Sani pledged continued support for education and ss development in Kaduna State. He announced plans to construct modern facilities including a theatre and access roads across the institution’s campuses. The governor also donated N50 million towards the convocation ceremony and commissioned a new lecture theatre complex.

The rector of the institution, Suleiman Umar, stated that the polytechnic remains focused on producing graduates capable of creating jobs and solving societal problems.

He revealed that among the graduating students, 1,725 earned distinctions while thousands graduated with upper and lower credits.
