Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on Christians and Muslims to use this year’s Lenten and Ramadan fasting season to promote peace, unity, and prosperity across Nigeria. In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the Governor emphasized the spiritual significance of the fasting periods and encouraged Nigerians to seek God’s intervention in the nation’s affairs.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted that the simultaneous start of Lent and Ramadan is not a coincidence but a divine opportunity for national reflection. He urged residents to practice abstinence, steadfast prayers, and good behavior, while praying for mercy, forgiveness, and ility in both Lagos and the country at large.

“The fasting period teaches abstinence from worldly pleasures, steadfastness in prayers, and total submission to the will of God,” he said. “Let us be good to one another, tolerant, and continue to offer prayers for peace, unity, and ility in Lagos and Nigeria.”

The Governor’s message underscores the importance of spiritual devotion and communal harmony during this season, reminding Nigerians that faith can serve as a unifying force amid the country’s challenges.
