Qatar and United Arab Emirates Join United States Initiative on Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductor Supply Chains

Qatar and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to participate in a United States led initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation on artificial intelligence development and semiconductor supply chains. Officials from the three countries described the framework as a strategic effort to enhance technology resilience and reduce vulnerabilities in critical industries.

The initiative focuses on research collaboration, secure manufacturing capacity and investment in advanced computing infrastructure. Government representatives highlighted the growing importance of semiconductors and artificial intelligence in national security, economic competitiveness and innovation ecosystems.

By joining the framework, the Gulf states seek to diversify partnerships and position themselves as regional technology hubs. Analysts note that the move aligns with broader economic transformation strategies pursued by both countries, which aim to expand high value sectors beyond traditional energy industries.
