A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party backed by Nyesom Wike has urged aggrieved members to return to the party, but under strict conditions of loyalty, discipline, and respect for party rules, as it begins early positioning for the 2027 general elections.

The call was made on Monday in Abuja during the party’s 87th Board of Trustees meeting. Speaking at the gathering, BoT Chairman Mao Ohuabunwa emphasized that unity must take precedence if the party hopes to rebuild and remain competitive.

He noted that while reconciliation efforts are ongoing, they must be grounded in structure and a commitment to avoid the internal divisions that have recently plagued the party. According to him, the 2026 National Convention marked a critical turning point, offering an opportunity to ilise and reset the party’s direction.

Ohuabunwa described the Board of Trustees as the conscience of the party, tasked with preserving its values, integrity, and long term vision. He warned members against complacency, stressing that the success of the convention should not be seen as the end of the party’s challenges but rather the beginning of renewed efforts.

The BoT chairman also highlighted reforms such as e registration and broader modernization strategies aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and growth within the party.

Also addressing members, National Chairman Mohammed Abdulrahman Takushara reinforced the message of unity but drew a firm line on discipline. He cautioned members against airing grievances publicly, urging them instead to use elished party channels.

Takushara made it clear that loyalty to party decisions is non negotiable, adding that reconciliation must come with genuine commitment and shared purpose. He further signaled that preparations for the 2027 elections are already underway, with a focus on strengthening grassroots structures and adopting data driven strategies for membership expansion and voter engagement.
