Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has described the overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu during the All Progressives Congress presidential primary exercise as a strong endorsement of the President’s leadership and the unity within the ruling party.
Speaking after the voting exercise at Ward 6 in Ikogosi Ekiti on Saturday, Oyebanji praised party members across the state for their massive turnout and peaceful participation. According to the governor, the exercise reflected the commitment of APC members to internal democracy and the continued leadership of President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At Oyebanji’s ward, 620 members voted in favour of Tinubu out of the 624 registered party members, giving the President a one hundred per cent result among those who participated in the exercise. The governor arrived at the ward around 10:35am and joined other party members during the voting process.
Oyebanji noted that the enthusiasm displayed by party faithful across the 177 wards in Ekiti State showed that members remained united and confident in the direction of the APC under Tinubu’s leadership. He added that the presidential primary was historic because it allowed ordinary party members to directly decide who would emerge as the party’s presidential candidate.
The governor also commended the APC leadership for creating a transparent and inclusive process that gave every member a voice. He expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, citing the widespread support shown during the primaries across the country.
Oyebanji stated that if performance remains a key factor in elections, then the APC and President Tinubu have nothing to fear in the next presidential contest.
