Pastor Daniel Olukoya, General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), has issued a formal warning to UK-based campaigner Maureen Badejo, founder of the GATE Initiative, to stop making defamatory statements against him or face contempt of court proceedings.

The warning follows repeated allegations by Ms Badejo despite a 2021 UK High Court ruling in favour of Pastor Olukoya and his wife, Folashade Olukoya. The defamation case, filed in October 2020, arose from claims against the Olukoyas including dishonesty and ual misconduct. Ms Badejo’s defence that the allegations were true was struck out by the court in April 2021, which ruled her claims disclosed no reasonable grounds and constituted an abuse of court process.

The High Court subsequently granted summary judgment to the Olukoyas and issued an injunction restraining Ms Badejo from republishing the claims. She was also ordered to share a summary of the judgment on her social media platforms. Damages were assessed at £65,000 for Pastor Olukoya and £35,000 for Mrs Olukoya.

Recent reports indicate that Ms Badejo has resumed posting the same allegations, prompting Pastor Olukoya’s legal team to formally warn her of possible contempt charges, which carry fines and potential imprisonment.

While Pastor Olukoya emphasized his willingness to resolve the matter peacefully, he stressed the importance of respecting the court judgment and upholding the rule of law. The legal warning underscores the seriousness of defamation, judicial enforcement, and the consequences of violating court orders in the UK.

  • I cant believe Pastor Olukoya is threatening legal action over criticism. Freedom of speech, anyone? Thoughts?

  • Wow, Pastor Olukoya is not playing around! Do you think the UK-based campaigner crossed the line with their claims? Lets discuss!

  • I think Pastor Olukoya should address the claims directly instead of issuing warnings. Transparency is key in such situations.
