ADC Chairman’s Daughter Backs Tinubu Re Election Bid, Sparks Political Debate

Hon. Blessing Onuh, a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives and daughter of David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress ADC, has taken a prominent role in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Her appointment as National Woman Leader of the Take Action Campaign Organisation marks a significant political development, given her father’s position as a leading opposition figure. The announcement was made by Tony Nwulu, Director General of the group, during a presentation at the organisation’s campaign office in Abuja.

Onuh pledged her full commitment to securing President Tinubu’s second term, stating that she would work tirelessly to mobilise support and promote the administration’s achievements. Her role will involve engaging voters and highlighting key policies under the government’s reform agenda.

The development has drawn attention due to its timing and political implications. While Onuh aligns herself with a pro Tinubu structure, her father remains central to efforts within the ADC to build a coalition aimed at challenging the president’s re election. This opposition alliance includes notable political figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, Aminu Tambuwal, Liyel Imoke, and Emeka Ihedioha.

Observers say the move underscores growing tensions within opposition ranks as the 2027 political landscape begins to evolve. It also raises broader questions about party unity and loyalty, especially within the ADC, which is attempting to present a strong and coordinated front against the ruling party.

The situation mirrors earlier internal shifts, including the defection of Abba Abubakar, son of Atiku Abubakar, who joined the ruling party and pledged support for Tinubu’s re election bid.

Despite the controversy, the Take Action Campaign Organisation insists its focus remains on promoting government achievements and educating Nigerians on policy initiatives as part of a broader mobilisation effort.
