Shine Rosman has revealed that many actors in the Nigerian movie industry are not as wealthy as people often assume.
Speaking during a podcast hosted by fellow actor Baaj Adebule, Rosman said one of the biggest misconceptions about Nollywood stars is that they are financially comfortable simply because they appear on television and social media.
According to the actress, while a few entertainers in the industry are financially successful, many actors are still battling serious financial challenges behind the scenes.
Rosman explained that most celebrities who appear wealthy often earn significant income from businesses and other ventures outside acting rather than from movie roles alone.
She noted that the public tends to associate fame with wealth, even though the reality for many actors is quite different. The actress added that a large number of Nollywood performers continue to struggle financially despite their popularity and visibility in the entertainment industry.
Her comments have sparked conversations online about the realities of life in Nollywood, with many fans expressing surprise over the financial difficulties faced by some actors.
The Nigerian film industry remains one of the largest in Africa, producing hundreds of movies yearly and creating opportunities for actors, filmmakers, producers, and content creators. However, concerns over low pay, irregular income, and limited financial security for actors continue to generate debate within the entertainment sector.
Rosman’s remarks have also drawn attention to the importance of diversifying income streams, as many entertainers now combine acting with business, endorsements, social media influencing, and entrepreneurship to sustain their lifestyles.
Despite the challenges, Nollywood continues to grow globally, attracting international recognition and a larger aunce across streaming platforms and cinemas
