The father of late Afrobeats singer, Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has raised the alarm over the disappearance of his son’s Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), days after the artiste’s death.
In a now-viral video that surfaced on Tuesday, the grieving father appealed to Nigerians for help in locating the vehicle, which he claimed went missing under unclear circumstances shortly after Destiny Boy passed away. According to him, the SUV was allegedly returned to the car dealership where it was purchased, but its current whereabouts remain unknown.
He explained that the vehicle was bought from Lycon Autos and that he personally accompanied his son to complete the purchase. At the point of sale, the dealership reportedly provided a driver to convey the SUV to their residence.
The father further revealed that Destiny Boy later retained the same driver for personal use. However, problems arose when the driver allegedly claimed that the late singer owed him money and, without informing the family, returned the vehicle to the dealership.
“Nigerians, please help me. My son has a car, and the car is with Lycon Autos. We went together to buy it, and they assigned a driver to bring it home. Later, my son started using the driver personally. The driver said Destiny was owing him, so he took the car back to where we bought it from. I don’t even have the driver’s number,” he lamented.
He added that if the vehicle were accessible, he would have personally gone to retrieve it, stressing that the family has been left in the dark over the situation.
Destiny Boy d on Sunday at the age of 22. His death sparked widespread reactions across the entertainment industry and among fans. His mother later disclosed that the singer had been battling a long-term mysterious illness that often resulted in seizures.
She also dismissed rumours linking her son’s death to ritual activities, describing such claims as false and insensitive, while maintaining that the family did everything possible to seek medical and traditional treatment for him.
As investigations into the circumstances surrounding Destiny Boy’s death continue, the family is urging relevant authorities and the public to assist in resolving the issue of the missing SUV.
