Nine Nigerian senators from various political parties officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Thursday, marking a significant realignment in the country’s political landscape.

The senators who defected include Aminu Tambuwal from Sokoto State, Eyinnaya Abaribe from Abia State, Binos Yaroe from Adamawa State, Victor Umeh and Tony Nwonye from Anambra State, Lawal Usman from Kaduna State, Ogoshi Onawo from Nasarawa State, Augustine Akobundu from Abia State, and Ireti Kingibe from the Federal Capital Territory.

Letters of defection addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, were formally read during plenary, officially recording the senators’ move to the ADC.

This development signals potential shifts in party dynamics ahead of upcoming elections, highlighting the growing influence of the ADC as more lawmakers consider cing allegiances to align with its platform. Political analysts suggest that such high-profile defections could affect legislative decisions and party strategies at both the national and state levels.
