Nigerians should prepare for three days of varying weather conditions as thunderstorms and moderate rainfall sweep across the country from Monday through Wednesday. The Nigerian Meteorological Agency issued its latest forecast on Sunday in Abuja, warning of significant weather ces nationwide.
Monday’s forecast shows thunderstorms hitting Taraba, Adamawa and Kaduna states during morning hours. By afternoon, similar conditions will spread to Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Katsina, Kano and other northern states. The North-Central region, including the Federal Capital Territory, will also experience moderate rainfall throughout the day.
Will the South escape the downpour? Not at all. Ondo, Ogun, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Lagos and Bayelsa states should expect morning rainfall that intensifies as the day progresses.
Tuesday and Wednesday follow similar patterns, though affected locations will shift. Wednesday brings partly cloudy conditions up north, with widespread thunderstorms developing later. The entire southern region faces moderate rainfall by day’s end.
Weather officials urged residents to secure loose objects and avoid driving through floodwaters. Coastal areas face particular risk of flash flooding from prolonged rainfall, making vigilance essential during this turbulent weather period.
