The reported death toll from ongoing protests across Iran has surpassed several hundred, according to multiple international human rights organisations monitoring the unrest. The groups allege that security forces have used live ammunition, mass arrests and heavy deployments in major cities and provincial areas in response to demonstrations that began over political and social grievances.

Activists claim that many of those ed were young protesters, while thousands more have been detained. Iranian authorities have not confirmed the figures released by rights monitors but maintain that security measures are necessary to preserve national ility and prevent violence. State affiliated media have described the protests as influenced by foreign actors, a claim that critics dispute.

Human rights organisations have called for independent investigations into reported excessive use of force and urged authorities to release detainees who were arrested for peaceful assembly. International observers continue to express concern over restrictions on information flow, which they say complicates efforts to verify casualty numbers.

The situation remains tense as demonstrations persist in several regions despite heightened security presence.
