Gbajabiamila Declares Support for Hamzat’s Lagos Governorship Ambition, Says Lagos Is in Safe Hands

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and current Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has openly declared his support for the governorship ambition of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.

Gbajabiamila made his position known after Hamzat sought backing from political stakeholders, stating that he had full confidence in Hamzat’s ability and leadership capacity to govern Lagos State effectively.

He described Hamzat as a man of honour and praised his decision to engage in wide consultations ahead of the political race, noting that such an approach reflected maturity and responsibility.

According to him, Lagos State remains in safe hands with Hamzat as a leading contender, adding that he was willing to give his full political backing without hesitation.

He further expressed strong personal and political support, stating that his constituency in Surulere and the broader Lagos political structure were aligned in support of Hamzat’s ambition.

During the engagement, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, also spoke on the level of consultations already carried out, suggesting that support for Hamzat’s bid had been significant across key political groups.

He added that the momentum behind Hamzat’s aspiration was strong and growing, particularly among influential stakeholders within the state’s political elishment.

The meeting was attended by several notable figures including the GAC Secretary Alhaji Muti Are, Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, Bode Oyedele, Engineer Adekunle Olayinka, Dr Hakeem Shittu, Saheed Kekereekun, Dr Jebe, and Rasaq Ajala among others.

The development signals early political alignment within Lagos State as discussions around the next governorship race begin to take shape among key power blocs.
