The Kano State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC has deployed no fewer than 1,889 personnel for a week long special patrol operation ahead of the 2026 Eid El Kabir celebrations.
The Sector Command Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Labaran disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday noting that the deployment includes both regular and special marshals across the state to ensure safer roads and effective traffic management during the festive period.
According to the statement the special patrol exercise commenced on May 25 and will run until May 31 2026 as part of routine operational measures during periods of increased vehicular movement and highway congestion.
The Sector Commander Idris Lawal said the operation is aimed at reducing road traffic crashes fatalities congestion and other highway emergencies associated with Sallah celebrations.
He explained that the Command has fully mobilised personnel and logistics to monitor major highways and identified accident prone areas across Kano State.
Lawal added that the FRSC has deployed 24 patrol vehicles 4 ambulances 1 heavy duty tow truck 2 motorcycles radar guns breathalysers and other emergency equipment to support rapid response operations.
He further stated that all unit commanders and 44 local government station officers have been directed to maintain continuous patrols and ensure full coverage throughout the operation.
The FRSC said mobile courts will remain active across the state to prosecute traffic offenders while rescue teams have been placed on high alert for emergency response.
The patrol operation will run on a 24 hour shift basis with special night rescue teams stationed along major highways to ensure quick intervention during emergencies.
The Command urged motorists to obey traffic rules avoid speeding dangerous overtaking overloading and other unsafe driving behaviours that could lead to accidents.
It also encouraged the public to report emergencies through the FRSC toll free number 122 for immediate assistance.
The Sector Commander wished all Muslim faithful and residents of Kano State a peaceful and safe Eid El Kabir celebration noting the importance of caution and discipline on the roads during the festive period.
