The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued two male suspects, identified as Kefas Akaye and Uya Ugwowere, from a mob in Utako on Wednesday.

According to a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are part of a four-man gang involved in “one chance” robbery operations within the FCT. The gang reportedly enters the territory from Uke, Nasarawa State, to carry out their criminal activities.

Two other members of the gang, identified only as Mary and Aisha, escaped during the commotion.

SP Adeh condemned acts of jungle justice, emphasizing that assaulting or lynching suspects endangers lives, destroys evidence, and hinders investigations. She urged the public to report criminal activities promptly to the police through the emergency lines 08032003913 and 08028940883.

The FCT Police Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing gang members.

  • I dont understand why people still resort to jungle justice when the police are doing their job. Lets trust the system.

  • I believe in due process, but sometimes the community seeks justice when they feel let down by the system. Do you think jungle justice is ever justified?

  • I think jungle justice is sometimes necessary when the justice system fails. What do you all think? #ControversialOpinion

  • I think jungle justice is never the answer, but also, why were the suspects in that situation in the first place?
