The Dangote Group has strongly refuted claims that its President, Aliko Dangote, distanced himself from Tony Elumelu, describing the report as false, malicious, and entirely baseless.
In an official statement issued by the company’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the Group clarified that neither Dangote nor the organization made any such comments. It stressed that the publication misrepresented both personal and corporate positions.
The company also dismissed allegations that the development of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery was financed through personal borrowing from friends. According to the statement, such claims are inaccurate and misleading, noting that Dangote does not fund projects through informal lending arrangements.
Additionally, the Group rejected suggestions of any strained relationship between Dangote and Elumelu, affirming that both business leaders maintain a longstanding and cordial relationship.
The statement further raised concerns over the increasing spread of fabricated content, including the unauthorized use of Dangote’s name and image in AI generated advertisements and misleading publications. The company warned that such actions pose serious reputational risks and may constitute fraud.
Dangote Group cautioned individuals and platforms involved in spreading false information to cease immediately, adding that it is prepared to pursue legal action where necessary to protect its reputation and leadership.
Reaffirming its mission, the company stated that it remains committed to driving industrialization, economic self sufficiency, and sustainable development across Africa, while upholding high standards of integrity.
