Cornell MBA Student Oreoluwa Odetunde Found Dead in Off-Campus Residence

Oreoluwa Odetunde, a first-year Master’s in Business Administration student at the S.C. Johnson College of Business, has been found dead in her off-campus residence.

Odetunde, an international student from Nigeria, earned her bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Lagos in 2017. At Cornell, she was actively involved in student organizations such as the Johnson African Business Society, the Black Graduate Business Association, and the Old Ezra Finance Club.

According to reports from The Cornell Daily Sun, Odetunde was a Forté Fellow and Sage Scholar, and had gained experience in research and strategy analysis at firms including Anchoria Asset Management and Greenwich Merchant Bank.

In a LinkedIn post, the Cornell Johnson Graduate School expressed condolences, stating, “We are devastated for Oreoluwa’s family, friends, classmates and instructors and extend our deepest condolences in this difficult time.”

The university has held a support meeting for the S.C. Johnson College community on Friday, February 6, in the MBA Student Lounge, Sage Hall 301. Another session is scheduled for Monday, February 9, at 5:00 p.m. in the Edwards Room, Anabel Taylor Hall G14.
