Bwala Faces Backlash Over Alleged Media Bias Claims Against Arise TV

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has sparked controversy on social media following accusations that Arise TV Morning Show crew exhibits bias towards Labour Party’s Peter Obi. The presidential aide’s comments have drawn sharp reactions from his followers on X, formerly Twitter.

In his post, Bwala alleged that the programme’s anchors maintain strong critical opinions about all presidential candidates ahead of the 2027 elections except the former Anambra State governor. He claimed their tone softens noticeably when discussing Obi, resembling “surrogates advising their principal” rather than objective journalists.

The allegation went further. Bwala stated that since Obi entered presidential politics, the morning show has never featured trending stories adverse to the Labour Party flagbearer. Is this a fair assessment of media coverage, or simply political posturing?

Social media users have questioned Bwala’s claims, with many challenging his evidence for such sweeping accusations. The criticism highlights growing tensions around media objectivity in Nigeria’s increasingly polarised political landscape.

Neither Arise TV nor Peter Obi has publicly responded to the allegations at the time of this report.
