Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has revealed why he allegedly turned down an offer to join Mavin Records despite claims that the label offered him one million dollars.

The rapper made the revelation in a short post shared on his official X account where he explained that his personality and approach to social media played a major role in his decision.

According to Blaqbonez, he is not naturally active online and prefers to maintain a low profile rather than constantly engaging fans on social media platforms. He suggested that such an attitude may not fit the expectations and promotional demands associated with signing to a major record label.

“Need to get this off my chest before chanel drops, the reason I didn’t sign to mavin when they were begging me with a million dollars is cos I don’t really like posting. I prefer one tweet per year than engaging my fans. I’m too big for that. I’m mysterious,” he wrote.

The statement quickly sparked reactions across social media with fans debating whether artists should maintain constant online visibility to remain successful in the modern music industry.

Blaqbonez is widely known for his unique rap style humour and unconventional approach to music promotion. Despite his comments about social media engagement the rapper has built a strong fan base and remains one of the most talked about artistes in Nigeria’s hip hop scene.

Mavin Records founded by renowned music executive Don Jazzy is regarded as one of Africa’s biggest music labels and has produced several successful artists over the years.
