Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State have purchased expression of interest and nomination forms for Governor Siminalayi Fubara ahead of the 2027 governorship election, signaling early political mobilisation within the state.

The announcement was made on Friday by a delegation led by House of Representatives member Awaji-Inombek Abiante, who said the decision was taken collectively by party stakeholders across Rivers State.

According to Abiante, the move reflects a shared belief in continuity and confidence in the governor’s leadership. He explained that the purchase of the forms was not driven by personal ambition or financial influence but by what he described as the “collective will” of the people.

He noted that similar actions have been taken in Nigeria’s political history, where stakeholders procured nomination forms for preferred candidates as a demonstration of support.

Abiante highlighted several developmental achievements under Fubara’s administration, including infrastructure expansion, improved access to riverine communities, and enhanced economic prospects in previously underserved areas. He pointed to regions such as Andoni, where improved connectivity has reportedly boosted local development opportunities.

He also referenced rehabilitation projects at the State Secretariat and broader improvements in public service delivery, describing the governor as responsive and people oriented.

The lawmaker emphasised that Governor Fubara neither initiated nor influenced the purchase of the forms, stressing that it was entirely a stakeholder driven decision.

The development comes amid ongoing political shifts in Rivers State following tensions between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, which previously created divisions within the political structure of the state and contributed to broader party realignments.

Fubara’s later alignment with the APC has significantly altered the state’s political dynamics as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually intensify.
