APC Criticises Peter Obi Over Alleged Frequent Party Switching

The All Progressives Congress APC has taken aim at former presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of frequently cing political platforms rather than contributing to the long term growth of any single party. The criticism comes amid increasing political activity and early positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement shared on Sunday via his X account, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, questioned Obi’s history of party affiliations. He pointed to Obi’s involvement with multiple political parties over the years, including the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, the Labour Party LP, and the African Democratic Congress ADC.

Morka argued that such movement reflects a pattern that could weaken party systems and democratic ility. According to him, strong political leadership is built through consistent engagement within a single platform, where individuals can help develop party structures and ideology over time.

He further stressed that frequent shifts between parties may undermine efforts aimed at internal consolidation and long term planning. In his view, political actors should prioritise commitment and continuity instead of pursuing opportunities across different platforms.

The remarks have added to ongoing debates within Nigeria’s political space, as politicians and stakeholders continue to realign in preparation for the next election cycle. With the 2027 elections still some distance away, early exces such as this highlight the growing tension and competition among key political figures and parties.

Observers note that party loyalty and ideological consistency are likely to remain central themes as campaigns begin to take shape in the coming years.
