Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress will head into the 2027 general elections more united and politically stronger, both in the state and across the country.

Speaking through his deputy, Peter Odey, at a massive rally in Ikom, the governor said the party is building momentum by consolidating its achievements and strengthening internal cohesion. The event, described as a 1.5 million man march, was organised to show support for Bola Tinubu and the state government.

Otu stressed the importance of unity within the party, urging members and aspirants to avoid divisions and work together as one political family. He noted that disagreements are natural but should be resolved internally through dialogue and mutual understanding.

Highlighting his administration’s performance, the governor pointed to progress in workers’ welfare, including the release of funds to settle long standing gratuities owed since 2007. He assured citizens that further payments would be made before mid year, reinforcing his government’s commitment to improving livelihoods.

The rally drew a large crowd of supporters, party leaders, and stakeholders, reflecting growing political energy within the state. Otu also called on residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and actively participate in the democratic process, emphasizing the importance of voter engagement ahead of the elections.

Party leaders at the event echoed the governor’s optimism, stating that future campaigns would focus more on tangible achievements rather than promises. They argued that showcasing completed and ongoing projects would build public trust and strengthen electoral support.

With projections of significant voter turnout in Cross River, the APC is positioning itself to maintain dominance in the state while contributing to national electoral success in 2027.
