The ruling All Progressives Congress has assured its members and residents of Abuja of a safe and smooth environment for its National Convention scheduled for March 27 and 28.

During the inaugural meeting of the convention’s security committee, the Chairman and Minister of Defence Christopher Musa (retd) emphasized that the party is leaving nothing to chance regarding the protection of thousands of delegates, government officials, and international observers expected to attend the high-profile event.

General Musa highlighted a strategic shift toward preventive security measures, noting that the scale of the convention requires a robust and professionally managed security framework. He stressed that the committee’s primary mandate is to identify and mitigate potential threats well in advance of the proceedings.

The security plan is designed to be integrated and synchronized across all relevant law enforcement and intelligence agencies, ensuring a coordinated and effective response to any challenges. According to General Musa, the goal is to create an orderly and secure environment that reflects the stature of the APC as a leading national institution.

A key focus of the inaugural session was inter-agency cooperation. Musa noted that the success of the convention’s security depends on the ability of various intelligence and law enforcement units to harmonize their unique capabilities into a single unified operational plan.

“Our approach must be preventive rather than reactive,” he stated, urging committee members to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and discipline. He also emphasized that the convention serves as a critical platform for the party to renew its leadership and reinforce its vision for national development, making its security a matter of strategic importance.

The committee has been tasked with conducting a thorough assessment of vulnerabilities and designing a comprehensive plan that guarantees the safety of every participant, from media representatives to top-tier dignitaries.

General Musa expressed confidence in the expertise and dedication of the committee members, noting that their collective efforts will be the cornerstone of a smooth and successful National Convention for the APC.
