Dr. Allen Onyema, Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace Limited, has hailed the Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport as one of the world’s finest, commending its state-of-the-art infrastructure and operational efficiency. Onyema made the remarks after landing at the airport on Saturday at 10 a.m. aboard a Boeing 737 with a 120-passenger capacity. He praised the airport’s apron, runway, and terminal building, describing them as “highly functional and aesthetically pleasing.”

Speaking to journalists shortly after arrival, Onyema underscored the airport’s readiness for both domestic and international flights, positioning it as a critical asset for Ekiti State’s economic and social advancement. He highlighted its potential to rival major aviation hubs in Nigeria, noting that the facility is equipped to handle even larger aircraft like the Boeing 777. “This is the first time a Boeing 737 will be coming to this airport, and as an aviator, I can tell you categorically that this is one of the best airports in the world. We should stop neglecting our own,” he declared.

Onyema expressed enthusiasm for partnering with the airport once commercial operations commence, predicting it could soon become a key hub for pilgrims and travelers nationwide. His endorsement signals a vote of confidence in the facility’s capacity to drive aviation growth and economic development in the region.

Supporting Onyema’s assessment, Mr. Sunday Makinde, Technical Adviser to the Governor on the Airport Project, described the seamless landing of the Boeing 737 as proof of the airport’s preparedness for full-scale operations. He emphasized that the milestone reflects its ability to accommodate large aircraft and deliver top-tier aviation services.

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Taiwo Olatunbosun, the Commissioner for Information, hailed the airport as a transformative initiative under Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration. He noted that the successful landing underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and enhancing connectivity across the state.

The Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, with its cutting-edge design and operational prowess, is poised to elevate Nigeria’s aviation landscape. As Onyema and state officials celebrate this achievement, the facility stands as a testament to the potential of homegrown infrastructure to compete on a global stage, promising a brighter future for Ekiti and beyond.
