Croatia and China will strengthen their connectivity with a new Air China service linking Beijing and Zagreb starting September 4, 2026. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia confirmed the route launch, which will operate three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with a stopover in Bucharest. The new service represents a significant expansion of transport links between the two nations, creating opportunities for enhanced tourism, business collaboration and cultural exce.
Chinese tourism to Croatia has experienced remarkable growth, with more than 330,000 Chinese visitors traveling to the country in 2025. The improved air connectivity is expected to make Croatia increasingly accessible for Chinese tourists while simultaneously supporting business travelers seeking to develop commercial relationships. Croatian companies stand to benefit from easier access to the Chinese market, particularly exporters of cheese, tuna, olive oil and wine, products that hold strong potential in Asian markets.
The route was officially presented in Beijing and is anticipated to improve access not only to Croatia but also to other destinations throughout Southeast Europe. Beyond commerce and tourism, the air link will facilitate cooperation in cultural initiatives and people-to-people exces, deepening ties between the two nations.
The September launch marks another milestone in developing direct air connectivity between Croatia and China, positioning Zagreb as an increasingly important gateway to the wider Asian market and supporting the continued expansion of bilateral relations.
