The Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, will step down from his role in Abuja on Friday, ending a five-month tenure noted for enhancing the Force’s public communication and digital engagement.

Vanguard reports that a senior police officer has been selected to replace Hundeyin, though the identity of the successor has not yet been publicly disclosed. Sources at Force Headquarters confirmed that Hundeyin has been briefed and is preparing to hand over his strategic communication responsibilities. An official announcement from the office of the Inspector-General of Police is expected later today.

Hundeyin was appointed FPRO in September 2025 while holding the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, succeeding Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police. Prior to his Abuja posting, Hundeyin served as Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, gaining recognition for proactive media engagement and extensive use of digital platforms to communicate police activities.

Security analysts credit Hundeyin’s communication style and social media presence with broadening public engagement and modernizing the Force’s approach to information dissemination.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Lagos State University and a master’s degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from University of Ibadan.
