Police Confirm Deadly Bandit in Kwara Pledge Strong Crackdown

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed a deadly bandit on Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of the state, assuring residents that decisive action is underway to apprehend those responsible.

The confirmation was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi. According to the statement the occurred on February 3 2026 at about 5 30 pm when suspected armed bandits stormed the community and began ing sporadically at residents.

Preliminary investigations revealed that several people lost their lives during the invasion while houses and shops were set on fire by the ers. The violent incident plunged the community into deep mourning although the police did not disclose the exact number of casualties. The command confirmed that the bos of the victims had been recovered and buried in a mass burial.

The police described the as tragic and assured the public of their commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. As part of immediate response efforts the Executive Governor of Kwara State Mallam AbdulRahaman AbdulRasaq visited the affected community on February 4 2026 to assess the situation firsthand. He was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo alongside other senior security officials and top government functionaries.

During the visit the delegation paid condolence visits to the Emir of Kaiama Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar and families of the victims. The police said the visit was aimed at reassuring residents that the government and security agencies were fully engaged in restoring peace.

To prevent further s a joint security team comprising the Police the Military and the National Forest Guards has been deployed to the area. The deployment is intended to maintain law and order enhance surveillance and boost public confidence.

The command further disclosed that a comprehensive investigation has commenced to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice. Residents were urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could support ongoing operations.
