AAP Alleges INEC Illegally Registered NDC Without Court Order

ABUJA — The African Alliance Party (AAP) has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of registering the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) without relying on a valid court order. The party claims its independent checks at the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, found no Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan referenced during the registration announcement on February 5, 2026.

AAP further alleged that NDC was not listed among political associations that applied for registration prior to its approval. The party described the registration as “judicial abracadabra” and a direct on Nigeria’s democracy, questioning the credibility and integrity of INEC’s leadership. The later inclusion of NDC on INEC’s website, AAP said, appears to be an after-the-fact justification that exposes the commission to global ridicule.

The party also asserted that it met all statutory requirements for registration and urged INEC to reconsider its position, warning of potential legal action if the situation is not corrected.
