Indigenous People of Biafra demands listing of Nnamdi Kanu’s appeal within two weeks or risks boycotting 2027 elections across South East Nigeria.
The Indigenous People of Biafra has given the Nigerian government a 14 day deadline to list Nnamdi Kanu’s appeal or face a boycott of the 2027 elections across the South East and other parts of what it calls Biafraland.
The ultimatum, delivered Monday by Mazi Chris Nwaogu, Head of IPOB’s Directorate of State, comes amid growing frustration over prolonged delays in the detained leader’s case.
What’s causing the holdup? According to Nwaogu, the Federal Government hasn’t filed a respondent’s brief or listed the appeal despite rushing to convict Kanu earlier. He accused authorities of running from their own judicial process.
Kanu’s family recently disclosed that he had written to both the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the President of the Court of Appeal requesting immediate listing and hearing of his pending cases.
The IPOB leader is currently serving a life sentence following his conviction, but his appeal remains in limbo with no scheduled hearing date.
