With the World Cup fast approaching in June, several top international players are facing serious fitness concerns that could impact their participation at football’s biggest stage.

A growing list of high profile players across Europe and beyond are either injured or racing to recover in time for the tournament, raising concerns for national teams already finalising preparations.

One of the biggest worries for Spain is teenage star Lamine Yamal, who suffered a hamstring injury while playing for FC Barcelona. Although he is expected to recover, his fitness remains closely monitored.

Germany are also sweating over goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen, who is battling a long term hamstring problem. His availability for the opening matches remains uncertain and would be a major setback for the national team.

For Brazil, the situation is equally worrying after Rodrygo was ruled out with an ACL injury. In addition, defender Eder Militao is also recovering from a hamstring tear, adding to Brazil’s defensive concerns.

Argentina face their own setback with Cristian Romero sidelined for the rest of the Premier League season due to a knee injury, putting his World Cup readiness in doubt.

Canada’s hopes are tied to Alphonso Davies, who continues to struggle with recurring muscle problems that threaten his availability for the tournament.

Spain midfielder Mikel Merino is also recovering from a fractured foot, while Japan captain Wataru Endo is out following knee and ankle surgery, leaving a leadership gap in midfield.

Turkey’s rising star Arda Guler is racing to regain full sharpness after a hamstring injury, while Brazil’s young talent Estevao Willian remains uncertain after a hamstring tear.

France have been hit hard with striker Hugo Ekitike ruled out until 2027 after rupturing his Achilles tendon, ending his World Cup hopes entirely.

Ghana is also closely monitoring Mohammed Kudus, who is dealing with a lingering quad injury that could require surgery.

England’s defensive plans have been disrupted by Reece James, who is once again struggling with hamstring issues following a recent setback.

With so many key players facing fitness doubts, national teams are under pressure to manage recovery timelines carefully as the countdown to the World Cup continues.
