The United States has warned that its military campaign against Iran is entering its most aggressive phase yet as Washington prepares for a major escalation of air strikes targeting Iranian military infrastructure.

Speaking during a Pentagon briefing on Tuesday the US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said the latest operations under Operation Epic Fury would represent the most intense round of s since the conflict began.

According to him the new wave of strikes would involve a larger deployment of fighter jets ers and precision s across multiple targets inside Iran. He explained that intelligence gathering has significantly improved allowing US forces to carry out more accurate and coordinated operations.

Hegseth said the campaign aims to destroy Iran missile stockpiles launch systems and its defence industrial base while also weakening the country naval forces. The operation is also intended to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

He added that the United States and Israel were making substantial progress in the conflict and insisted that military pressure on Iran would continue according to Washington strategic timeline.

Meanwhile the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine told reporters that the US led strikes have already weakened Iran ability to respond effectively.

Caine revealed that ballistic missile s launched by Iran have dropped by about ninety percent since the start of the military operation. He also said that the number of one way drones launched by Iranian forces has declined by eighty three percent.

According to him more than fifty Iranian naval vessels have been struck since hostilities began. The strikes have focused on military production centres and facilities linked to drone and advanced weapons manufacturing.

Despite the escalating conflict Hegseth said the final duration and objectives of the campaign will ultimately be determined by the US President Donald Trump.
