U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked controversy after telling countries facing fuel shortages to secure their own oil from the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
In a post shared on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump criticized nations that have chosen not to participate in the ongoing regional conflict but are now grappling with energy shortages. He suggested that such countries should take matters into their own hands rather than rely on the United States.
According to Trump, countries that “refused to get involved” should “build up some delayed courage” and go directly to the Strait of Hormuz to secure oil supplies themselves.
