World record holder Tobi Amusan says she remains hungry for more success after securing her third continental title at the ongoing CAA Senior African Athletics Championships in Accra, Ghana.

Amusan delivered a dominant performance in the women’s 100m hurdles to claim Nigeria’s first gold medal at the 2026 championships. She finished ahead of Zimbabwe’s Ashley Miller, while fellow Nigerian Adaobi Tabugbo took bronze to secure her first individual medal for the country.

The victory adds to Amusan’s earlier African Championship triumphs in 2018 on home soil and in 2022 in Mauritius, further strengthening her status as one of the continent’s most successful hurdlers. She did not compete in the 2024 edition held in Cameroon.

Following her latest success, the 29 year old star expressed gratitude to her support team and fans, while emphasizing that her journey is far from over. She described the win as historic but reaffirmed her determination to continue pushing for greater achievements.

Amusan has now shifted her focus to the upcoming Diamond League season opener in China, where she will compete in the Shai Keqiao meeting on Saturday.

The event will feature a highly competitive women’s 100m hurdles field including top global athletes such as Masai Russell, Ditaji Kambundji, Danielle Williams, and Devynne Charlton.

Amusan remains one of the fastest women in history over the distance, holding the world record of 12.12 seconds. She will also compete against other elite hurdlers as the 2026 Diamond League season begins, culminating in the final scheduled for Brussels in September.

The meeting will also feature global athletics stars including Faith Kipyegon, Shericka Jackson, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Shaunae Miller-Uibo.

Amusan’s continued form reinforces her status as one of Nigeria’s leading athletes as she targets more international victories in the 2026 season.
