National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, has assured Nigerians that the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu are beginning to produce measurable results despite the current economic challenges facing the country.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda stated that the Renewed Hope Agenda was designed as a long term strategy aimed at correcting structural weaknesses that have affected Nigeria’s economy for decades. According to him, the reforms are necessary to create a more le and productive economy capable of attracting investments and creating sustainable growth.
The APC chairman acknowledged the rising cost of living and inflation affecting many Nigerians but insisted that the Federal Government has continued to implement targeted interventions, improve infrastructure, and support local industries to ease the burden on citizens.
Yilwatda highlighted recent achievements in the maritime sector as evidence that the reforms are working. He noted that Nigerian ports handled more than 1,092 ocean going vessels during the first quarter of 2026, describing the development as a sign of increased trade activities and renewed investor confidence in the Nigerian economy.
He also pointed to Nigeria’s crude oil production, which he said has reached about 99.2 percent of the country’s OPEC quota, as proof of improved operational efficiency and stronger security coordination in the oil and gas sector.
According to Yilwatda, the commissioning of new 330kV transmission lines in Edo State and the addition of 600 megawatts to the national grid are important steps toward improving electricity supply and supporting industrial development.
The APC chairman further stated that growing investor interest in sectors such as automobile spare parts, manufacturing, and energy infrastructure indicates that Nigeria’s economy is gradually repositioning for long term competitiveness and national prosperity.
