President Bola Tinubu has cautioned Nigerians against supporting politicians without clear ideas and direction ahead of the 2027 general elections. The President made the statement on Sunday after receiving the Certificate of Return and party flag as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC for the next election.
Speaking at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja Tinubu said Nigerians must protect the country’s democratic progress and avoid allowing leaders without vision to reverse the reforms introduced by his administration.
The President pledged to continue consolidating economic reforms improving infrastructure strengthening security and expanding opportunities for Nigerians if re elected for another term in office.
Tinubu also expressed his willingness to engage political opponents and critics through dialogue and constructive engagement. According to him democracy thrives on diversity of opinions and ideas rather than uniformity.
The President congratulated his challenger Stanley Osifo for accepting the outcome of the APC presidential primary in good faith. Osifo who contested against Tinubu reportedly scored 16,503 votes while the President secured over 10.9 million votes nationwide.
Reflecting on his administration’s achievements Tinubu highlighted several reforms and projects introduced since assuming office in 2023. He said the government had implemented major fiscal reforms strengthened revenue generation and introduced policies aimed at ilizing the economy.
The President pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund which has reportedly disbursed more than N282 billion to over 1.5 million beneficiaries. He also noted progress in the power sector including the distribution of 2.5 million electricity meters and efforts to improve energy supply across the country.
Tinubu further stated that the removal of fuel subsis and reforms in the foreign exce market were difficult but necessary decisions to reposition the Nigerian economy for long term growth.
On security the President assured Nigerians that his administration would continue investing in intelligence modern equipment and stronger collaboration with communities to restore peace across the country. He also called for constitutional amendments to allow the creation of state police.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain united and support efforts aimed at building a secure prosperous and economically le nation ahead of the 2027 elections.
