Senator Solomon Adeola Picks APC Governorship Nomination Form for 2027 Ogun Election

The lawmaker representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has formally entered the race for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election after picking up the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress valued at fifty million naira.

The forms were obtained on his behalf at the party national secretariat in Abuja, a development that signals his intention to contest for the top political office in the state.

The National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Suleiman Argungu, on Tuesday declared the sales process open and issued the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to Adeola representative.

The move comes as political activities begin to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

According to the electoral timetable, presidential and National Assembly elections will be held on Saturday January sixteen 2027, while governorship and State House of Assembly elections are slated for Saturday February six 2027.

INEC has also fixed party primaries and resolution of disputes between April twenty three 2026 and May thirty 2026, while campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August nineteen 2026 and those for governorship and state assembly on September nine 2026.

Political observers say Adeola entry into the race may intensify competition within the ruling party in Ogun State as aspirants position themselves ahead of the primaries.

The development has sparked conversations among party members and political stakeholders in Ogun State as preparations for the next election cycle intensify. Analysts believe the early acquisition of nomination forms reflects strategic positioning within the ruling party ahead of competitive primaries. Supporters of the senator describe his move as a continuation of his political ambition and influence in the state while opponents are expected to mobilize for a strong contest ahead period.
