Renewed fighting has erupted in Ethiopia Tigray region as clashes between federal forces and fighters linked to the Tigray People Liberation Front continue despite earlier peace agreements. Residents and local sources report artillery exces and troop movements in several districts, raising concerns about a return to large scale hostilities.

The resurgence of violence threatens to unravel fragile political arrangements intended to ilize northern Ethiopia after years of devastating conflict. Humanitarian organizations warn that renewed combat could worsen already severe food insecurity and displacement.

Government representatives have accused TPLF elements of violating ceasefire commitments, while TPLF officials have countered that federal forces initiated the latest confrontations. Independent confirmation remains difficult due to restricted access in parts of the region.

International observers stress the importance of dialogue and adherence to previously negotiated terms. The African Union and other mediators have urged both sides to prioritize civilian protection and maintain open communication channels.

The Tigray conflict has had far reaching consequences, including allegations of human rights abuses and widespread infrastructure destruction. Any sustained breakdown in the peace process could further strain Ethiopia political and economic recovery efforts.

As tensions rise, communities in Tigray brace for uncertainty, hoping that diplomatic intervention can prevent a full scale relapse into war.
