Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna has revealed that her biggest regret since winning the show is using her prize money to support family members instead of investing it wisely.

Phyna, whose real name is Josephina Otabor, said she was inexperienced with financial management after leaving the reality show and did not receive proper guidance on how to handle her winnings.

Speaking during a recent livestream, she explained that she spent a large portion of her earnings assisting relatives, clearing debts, and providing financial support for family needs, including infrastructural assistance such as boreholes.

According to her, the pressure from family members played a major role in her financial decisions, as she was frequently asked for money after winning the competition.

She also alleged that when she began refusing some financial requests, tensions arose within the family, leading to public criticism and strained relationships.

Phyna said she now regrets not investing her winnings, noting that no older family members advised her on financial planning or long term investment strategies after she won the show.

She added that the financial support she offered eventually depleted her resources, leaving her to deal with the consequences alone.

Phyna won Big Brother Naija Season 7 in 2022, taking home a grand prize of N100 million, which included N50 million in cash and N50 million in sponsored rewards.

Her revelation has sparked renewed conversations around financial literacy and the pressures placed on young celebrities who suddenly gain fame and wealth.
