Public anger has erupted following the circulation of a disturbing video showing the brutal assault of a student at Igbinedion Education Centre in Benin City. The incident has drawn nationwide condemnation, with calls for swift justice and stronger measures against bullying in schools.

Senior lawyer Abdullahi Dania has issued a 72 hour ultimatum to the Nigeria Police Force, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible. He warned that failure to act before March 19 2026 would compel him to initiate legal proceedings to enforce the police duty to uphold the law.

The viral footage shows a group of senior students forcing four junior students into an empty hall within the boarding facility. The victims were ordered to kneel before being flogged kicked and violently pushed against the wall. One of the boys was singled out for repeated assault despite pleading for mercy, a scene that has shocked many viewers.

Although the school management has reportedly expelled the students involved, many Nigerians argue that expulsion alone is not enough. There is growing demand for criminal prosecution to serve as a deterrent against future incidents.

Dania specifically named two alleged perpetrators Choice Osarumen Asoro and Dino Uyi, describing the as brutal and inhumane. He also criticized the police for insisting on a formal complaint before taking action, stressing that under Nigerian law the state is responsible for prosecuting violent crimes.

He further called on the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Abuja to investigate possible systemic bullying and cult related activities within the school, citing another viral video involving multiple students in a separate .

The lawyer urged urgent reforms including CCTV installation independent investigations and strict anti bullying policies, while pledging to pursue the case pro bono to ensure justice is served.
