The Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Success, has condemned the online criticism directed at Pastor Jerry Eze following the death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.
The controversy began after a photo resurfaced online showing Pastor Jerry Eze praying for the late actor before his death from cancer. Some social media users mocked the cleric, questioning the effectiveness of prayers after Ekubo’s passing, a reaction that sparked widespread debate.
In response, Ossai Success expressed disappointment over what he described as insensitive comments targeting the pastor. He defended the role of faith and prayer, insisting that divine healing and miracles remain possible and should not be dismissed based on individual outcomes.
According to him, the fact that Alex Ekubo was prayed for does not negate the possibility of death, adding that outcomes of life and health are ultimately beyond human understanding. He warned against making light of spiritual matters, stating that such attitudes could lead to self destruction.
His comments have added to ongoing discussions on social media about faith, medical illness, and public expectations of religious leaders during health crises.
