The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, will on Saturday, March 7, 2026, inaugurate the Geriatric Centre in Akwa Ibom State, also known as the ARISE Elderly Citizens Centre.

The purpose built facility, referred to as the ARISE Senior Citizens Centre, was initiated by Governor Umo Eno to provide comprehensive healthcare, recreation and social support services for elderly residents across the state.

Governor Eno made this known during the March edition of the Government House Monthly Covenant Service. According to a statement from the Government House Press Unit, the commissioning of the centre, located along the Uyo Ikot Ekpene Road on the Arise Medical Corridor, will be a major highlight of the First Lady maiden official visit to the state.

The visit will also feature the grand finale of the ongoing women sensitisation and mobilisation tour aimed at strengthening grassroots participation and economic empowerment.

Speaking on the project, Eno explained that the facility includes a health centre and relaxation spots designed specifically for senior citizens aged 65 years and above. He noted that the centre will function as a daytime wellness hub offering personalised health services, lounges, recreational activities, games and counselling support tailored to the needs of elderly citizens.

The governor also revealed that the state expects delivery of two new Airbus aircraft before the end of the year. He added that several projects are ongoing at the Victor Attah International Airport ahead of the commencement of international flights scheduled for April.

In addition, Eno announced the commencement of a Treasury Single Account system in the state, directing all Ministries Departments and Agencies to comply fully. He urged residents to continue supporting his administration as well as Senate President Godswill Akpabio and President Bola Tinubu.
