OADC Lagos Backs Nigeria Data Protection Drive at National Privacy Week Summit

Open Access Data Centres Lagos has reaffirmed its support for Nigeria data protection and data domiciliation agenda through its sponsorship and participation in the National Privacy Week Summit organised by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

The summit convened policymakers, regulators, technology providers and industry stakeholders to promote awareness of data privacy, strengthen compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and deepen conversations around data security, sovereignty and responsible governance in Nigeria expanding digital economy.

OADC Lagos said its participation aligns with the Federal Government policy direction encouraging local data hosting. The push for data domiciliation is widely viewed as critical to safeguarding sensitive information, enhancing regulatory compliance and strengthening trust in both public and private sector digital services.

The company operates a carrier neutral Tier III Design certified data centre in Lekki, Lagos. The facility enables government institutions and enterprises to host and manage data locally while meeting international benchmarks for security, resilience and availability.

Country Marketing Manager at Open Access Data Centres Nigeria, Adesola Adesugba, said supporting the Nigeria Data Protection Commission reflects the company broader commitment to national digital transformation goals. She noted that strengthening local data hosting is essential to advancing national data sovereignty, improving cybersecurity and driving sustainable digital growth.

OADC added that its engagement at the summit highlights its role as a digital infrastructure partner supporting secure cloud connectivity and regulatory compliance across Nigeria.

Open Access Data Centres is part of the WIOCC Group and operates open access facilities across Africa serving cloud providers, network operators, enterprises and public institutions.
