The National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ahmed, has strongly criticized former party members who defected to other political parties, warning that they will face difficulties and challenges in their new political homes.
Speaking at the party’s 10th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja, Ahmed described the defectors as “renegades.” He emphasized that although the NNPP may not be the largest party, it is stronger and more united than many others.
Ahmed urged current party members to disregard the defectors, stating that their decision to leave a peaceful and united party for troubled ones was a poor choice that would bring hardship. He metaphorically said, “If a man or some men decided to jump from calm waters only to land in not just a frying pan but directly into a burning fire, we wish them a safe journey.”
He also took a jab at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighting that despite attempts by outsiders to create divisions, the NNPP has remained le.
Ahmed stressed that the NNPP has no internal divisions, is not controlled by any individual, and is not weakened by external influences. “We are not fragmented into three parts with two party chairmen. We have not been captured and broken and made ineffective by a single omnipotent external force, we are NNPP. We are united,” he declared.
His remarks reaffirm the party’s commitment to unity, ility, and its guiding principles amid political challenges.

I disagree with the NNPP National Chairmans criticism of defectors. Ce is natural in politics. Unity should include diversity of opinions.
I dont know, I think the defectors had valid reasons. Unity is important, but so is listening to different perspectives.
