Kingsley Udeh SAN, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, has assured that Nigeria will not be left behind in the global technology revolution.

Udeh announced that his ministry will soon roll out a programme titled “Energise Commercialisation”, designed to transform Nigeria from a technology-importing nation into a technology-innovating nation. The announcement came during a visit to Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of Nigeria, at the State House Abuja.

The Minister said the visit aimed to enlist the First Lady as the Champion of the initiative, which seeks to strengthen the capacities of youths with commercially viable inventions and innovations. The programme has already begun sensitisation efforts and will be implemented across all states of the federation under her leadership.

Udeh emphasized that the initiative aims to reach innovators at all levels including students in schools and individuals in remote communities. “We will be going to schools, at all levels, and the nooks and crannies of the states, to reach even the unlettered who have such inventions and innovations. We have the brains, and we will be helping them achieve their goals,” he said.

The programme will primarily target youths and women to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement nationwide. Udeh concluded, “Nigeria cannot be left out of the world technology revolution.”
