The Nigeria Football Federation Nigeria Football Federation has announced the appointment of Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as head coaches of the country’s men’s U 20 and U 17 national teams following a reshuffle of the technical structure across all age grade teams.
According to the federation’s statement released on Thursday the Executive Committee approved the recommendations of the Technical and Development Committee which confirmed Maikaba as head coach of the U 20 team and Uwejamomere as head coach of the U 17 boys team popularly known as the Golden Eaglets.
Abdu Maikaba a well known Nigerian tactician has previously handled several top domestic clubs including Enyimba FC Kano Pillars Plateau United and Wikki Tourists. He also led Akwa United FC to victory in the national cup competition in 2017 and has earlier worked with the U 20 national team as an assistant coach.
Maikaba is expected to bring his extensive domestic coaching experience to the Flying Eagles setup as Nigeria continues preparations for future youth competitions.
Eboboritse Uwejamomere on the other hand brings a strong background in youth development and technical analysis. He has worked with the Super Eagles and Super Falcons in analytical roles and has also served in youth coaching and academy positions at clubs in England including Millwall FC Gillingham FC and Nottingham Forest FC.
Uwejamomere currently heads the academy structure at Sporting Lagos FC and was selected ahead of other contenders including Olumide Ajibolade of Beyond Limits and Shola Adegun of Plateau United.
The restructuring leaves the national U 23 team as the remaining age grade side yet to undergo ces.
Reports suggest that former internationals Samson Siasia and Daniel Amokachi are being considered for the role as Nigeria prepares for the qualifiers for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
The NFF said the new appointments are part of efforts to strengthen youth football development and improve Nigeria’s performance across all age grade competitions.
