In a thrilling match at Lusail Stadium on December 18, 2025, Morocco won their second Arab Cup title by defeating Jordan 3-2 after extra time. The encounter was filled with drama, showcasing spectacular goals and emotional highs and lows.

The game began energetically with Morocco taking an early lead in the 4th minute, thanks to Oussama Tannane’s remarkable long-range shot that caught Jordan’s goalkeeper Yazeed Abulaila off guard. However, Jordan quickly rallied. In the 48th minute, Ali Olwan equalized with a powerful header from a cross by Muhannad Abutaha. The momentum shifted further when a VAR review awarded Jordan a penalty in the 68th minute for a handball by Moroccan defender Achraf El Mahdioui, which Olwan converted, putting Jordan ahead 2-1.

Desperate to avoid defeat, Morocco pressed harder. In the 87th minute, substitute Abderrazak Hamdallah found the net after a scramble in the box, leveling the score and sending the match into extra time. During this period, Hamdallah struck again in the 100th minute, finishing from close range after a precise cross from Marwane Saadane, securing Morocco’s victory.

This triumph, showcasing Morocco’s depth and resilience despite missing several Europe-based players ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, adds to their impressive footballing legacy, which includes a historic semi-final run in the 2022 World Cup and a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Jordan, despite the loss, demonstrated their potential and can take pride in their commendable tournament performance.

The match, attended by a full crowd, highlighted the electric atmosphere and the rising competitiveness of Arab football. As Morocco celebrates, they look forward to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations to build on their success.
